Grand Jamia Mosque is going to be a true crown jewel of not only Bahria Town but for entire Pakistan with a capacity to accommodate 800,000 worshippers.
Design And Architecture
The design is a blend of Mughal and Persian architecture which is famed for producing magnificent buildings such as the Badshahi Masjid in Lahore and the Jama Masjid in Dehli. What’s more beautiful is that the Grand Jamia Mosque in Bahria Town Karachi combines and draws inspiration from all Islamic architecture styles including Turkey, Malaysia Iran. The interior work will be an explicit reflection of art work of Sindh, Bukhara, Samarqand and Mughal.
Famous Pakistani architect Nayyar Ali Dada designed the Grand Jamia Mosque Karachi. He also designed the Grand Jamia Mosque in Bahria Town Lahore.
Location
Grand Jamia Mosque is centrally-located on the Jinnah Commercial Avenue which has a majestic presence visible from every corner of Bahria Town and connects with other precinct and areas as well. The mosque will have a single giant minaret of 325 feet that will increase the beauty of the mosque. Iqra University is just next to the Grand Jamia Mosque.
Construction Updates
The construction of grand jamia mosque karachi started in 2015 and the ground breaking ceremony was done by Nosherwan, the oldest employee of Bahria Town Karachi. Development has reached up to 80% completion and the grand structure is visible from miles away. Newest technology and machinery is used for the development of the mosque. Grand Jamia Mosque construction completed at 2023 and will be inaugurated by Imam – e – Kaaba.
It is spread over an area 200 acres and 1,600,000 sq ft constructed area making it the biggest concrete structure of Pakistan. The quality beige-coloured marble from Balochistan is used in the construction. The complex will be surrounded by large gardens along by arch-shaped walls on all four sides.
