Should You Give Things Or Experiences As Christmas Gifts?

............................................................

Many people often fall into the trap of getting things for christmas gifts for their loved ones. Whether the things in question are the latest and greatest toy or gadget, more of what a person already has, or something that is the biggest and most hot selling item everyone wants to have. When this fails, often giving money so your loved one can pick their own Christmas gift can be a good idea too.

While none of these things are bad and all of them make for some fantastic gifts that everyone will love and appreciate, some people want to give more. Which brings up the age old question, should you give things as your Christmas gifts, or should you try to give experiences?

Experiences Are Harder To Shop For, But Might Mean More

Concert tickets, vacations, and other experiences are going to be harder to shop for. For one they are often expensive and require you to book out at least a little in advance, and for another they can require a bit of divulging in order to make sure that the people you are giving this experience to can actually accept it and go on the experience.

But they might mean more as well, because there’s nothing like getting a text or an email from people who have just gone or who are on these experiences that you have sent them on. For example, seeing people get dressed up for the concert you have bought them tickets to, or getting a photo collage about the beach vacation you bought for them can warm everyone’s heart.

Experiences Can Last Longer

Not in the physical sense, because every single vacation ends, and every event needs to come to a close, but the event is going to last much longer in the minds of the recipient than any physical gift ever would. They will remember the event, have pictures and memories and souvenirs and other forms of excitement, and they will never stop thanking you for what you did for them!

Plus, they might have loved the experience so much, they will want to do it again, and that means that your gift has continued to give.

Experiences Can Be Closer To What People Like

It can be hard to put yourself into the shoes of people who you want to buy some items for, but buying experiences can be much easier. If you know that someone likes a certain type of music, you can get concert tickets, and if they like sports then you can give out tickets to the big game.

But no matter what you give, don’t be afraid to give from the heart, because that is all that matters in the end!
